Can AI help you create print ready artwork?
Using AI To Enhance Your Designs
With the hype of artificial inelegance growing over the internet, it is clear to see that this is something that we need to embrace and not push back on. Don’t worry, I’m not talking about ChatGPT coming back from the future in the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger, instead, the AI that is being developed is here to enrich our lives and be more of a support, instead of a hindrance.
But how will AI affect the print industry when it comes to creating print-ready artwork? Well, believe it or not, advanced AI technology has been working alongside us for the last several years. There are powerful tools within several design packages that make use of AI to help creators complete designs faster than before.
Adobe Photoshop
You know when you have a picture that you want to use within a design, but there is something in the way that you might have to crop out or try to use fiddly tools to try and mask over the problem area. Well now, with the help of AI, Photoshop can remove subjects easily and, surprisingly, with amazing results.
After selecting the subject that you wish to remove, you can use the content aware fill to easily erase the subject from your picture. Photoshop will intelligently scan your artwork and determine what the background is and then using AI replaces the subject with artwork that blends in with the rest.
This doesn’t just work with removing subjects. We have found that this tool is perfect for adding extra bleed to documents that are missing from a bitmap artwork. All you need to do is select the area around the edge of your design with the missing bleed and use the content aware fill option to artificially fill the bleed area, so you don’t end up with any hard white lines around your final print.
Canva Magic Design
If you are looking to make a quick and easy design, then Canva is your place to go. Canva really knows how to make things look professional, all while being super simple to use. Their latest offering is their new Magic Design tool. It uses advanced AI to generate artwork based on very little information. This is ideal if you just want some inspiration for your brand, or are super lazy when it comes to designing (guilty!!).
This is available on the Canva Pro subscription and all you need to do is upload a photo that you wish to use, and Canva will populate multiple artworks that you might wish to use.
This tool is ideal for small business owners who require professionally designed flyers, posters, or business cards but do not have the budget or time to invest in expensive design software. With this user-friendly tool, you can effortlessly convert your pictures into print-ready artwork within a matter of minutes. Whether you need to promote an upcoming event, launch a new product or service, or simply update your branding materials, this AI tool offers a quick and easy solution to help you get on the press faster.

Microsoft Designer
This AI-powered web tool is a seriously upgraded version of the old Microsoft Paint app that most of us know and love. It is a fantastic tool that is specifically designed for designers, and although it is still in its beta stage, it promises to deliver an unparalleled design experience.
The tool allows you to create your vision simply by typing in your desired outcome. You could input something as simple as “A birthday card design for a 10-year-old child” or “an A3 poster design for my guitar lesson business,” and the software will generate artwork that aligns with your request. The tool allows you to edit the generated artwork if you need to. You can swap out pictures, text, and change fonts, it’s completely customisable.
One of the great benefits of this tool is that it enables you to export your finished design as a file that is ready for printing. This feature makes it incredibly easy and efficient to create print files that meet your specifications. Additionally, you can export the files as social media posts, which are optimised for different platforms. This means you can have professional-looking media that works both online and offline.
This AI-powered web tool is an excellent option for anyone looking to design for print. Its simple yet efficient interface allows you to create stunning designs quickly and easily, making it an indispensable tool for designers of all levels. We are super excited to see this app available to the public and will be a game changer in the field.

AI-generated designs can be easily scaled and modified to fit different products, creating cohesive branding without countless hours of individual design. AI also makes it easier for designers to refine designs for the best print outcome. Print artwork created from AI has the potential to revolutionise product creation by allowing businesses to create personalised, scalable, and cost-effective products.
AI is so good in fact, it created the artwork for this blog!
