Tradeprint is committed to driving environmental change within the UK print and paper industry and was invited last week to contribute to a roundtable discussion on Sustainability and Innovation at the home of Rishi Sunak the UK Prime Minister, the iconic Number 10 Downing Street.
Anthony Rowell, Sales & Customer Success Director and Tradeprint’s lead on sustainability represented Tradeprint in the discussion and was selected from a long list of potential contributors. Tradeprint supports several trade organisations such as The British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF – Anth chairs the Environmental Forum), FESPA UK and as a result of our membership with the Independent Print Industries Association (IPIA), we had an opportunity to present the case for the printing industry in terms of raising awareness around sustainability and innovation in our sector.
Tradeprint and a group of leading print and paper professionals met with the PM’s Special Advisor on Manufacturing and Industry and had the chance to promote the sector, share experiences and challenges with a view to the government taking active steps to support growth and pride in our industry. Amongst the topics discussed were highlighting the huge contribution the printing and paper industry makes to the UK’s economy, while also showcasing Tradeprint’s collaborative efforts to promote sustainability.
Anth is not so quiet in his determination to drive the sustainability agenda for Tradeprint and recognises the importance of leadership in the industry by raising awareness of Tradeprint’s efforts toward a more sustainable future. Anth’s passion has been instrumental in spearheading the company’s sustainability initiatives and his visit to Number 10 Downing Street was a proud moment in Tradeprint’s journey.
Anthony Rowell – “It was an amazing experience and complete honour to visit No. 10 – it was not an accident that I carried the Cimpress ESG Report through the door! … Sustainability and Innovation are wonderful highlights from our businesses, and I hope that my passion for Tradeprint and the Industry came across – I explained that we are in a great place employing technology professionals like software developers alongside time served print and finishing apprentices. It was brilliant to be able to talk about our sustainability ambitions and our targets to eradicate problematic plastics and our journey to Net Zero. To be able to address challenges like curb side recycling and the lack of energy infrastructure directly with ministers will hopefully make a difference … I hope this is the start of a wider discussion to make the UK Printing industry Great again”.
Tradeprint is proud to be featured in the Cimpress ESG Report, which showcases their progress with sustainable forestry and the work with the BPIF and we are excited about contributing to Project Hulk, supporting the shift from PVC to PVC-free materials.
